How could we forget...laughter is the best medicine

Dear Angels,
With all that has been happening to poor Jen, we had forgotten that laughter is the best medicine. So thank you Meggie for her comment on her funny son Jack, for allowing me to have the first laugh of the week, and for reminding us (well me at least) how good it feels to laugh! Jen and Will (and Heidi!) have the best senses of humour of anyone I know. We all know that it was humour that attracted Jen and Will when they first met. Incase you don't know the story....Jen, Mon and Bec were holidaying in Byron and were trying to get into a restaurant that was closed for a wedding, so they headed to the pub instead. When a few boys in penguin suits turned up Jen had a laugh with them about the fact that they were the ones who had stopped the girls going to their chosen dinner venue. That ofcourse was Will's sisters wedding and he was the guy in the tux - standing out from the crowd in hippie Byron. Their romance has been filled with fun and laughter since day one. These last few weeks it has been hard to find the humourous side of life. But now, with all the diagnosis out of the way, and the cancer cut from Jen's body we are moving into the treatment phase with a strong plan (chemo every 3 weeks for 18 weeks starting on 26 October) and an end in sight - looks like late Feb.
So Dear Angels, I call on you to fill Jen's next few months with humour, like she has filled your friendship! If you have any funny stories to tell, please share them with us/ or directly with her, and remember that laughter is the best medicine.
Love Cathy

  1. Thanks Cathy, an excellent post.

I have many funny stories about our lovely JK but I am afraid most of them are not suitable for a public forum!!! They may get both of us into trouble. But I can share that while working at The Ritz Carton, Double Bay (many moons ago when Jen was never seen without a bandanna around her neck and a push bike for a spell) we had so many laughs to the point of almost wetting our pants. Our good friend Gus completed the trio and we often found ourselves being reprimanded like naughty school kids.

Delirious with fatigue from working 14 hour plus shifts we found everything any anything amusing in the wee hours - hiding in laundry baskets under dirty linen, sneaking chocolates from the kitchen and massaging our feet on the metal drain covers in front of the hotel.

Some wonderful memories were built there, and of course some very special friendships created. Jen darlink I look forward to laughing about the 'other stories' next weekend in the Blueys. Kristen XXX

  2. From Trish and John........The Kovacs were staying at John Street while Lord Howe Street was being built. A fishing day was organised via Matt and Matt Snr. Alan Rene came to pick us up out the front of John Street. (Alan was Maori) Jenny gave John the biggest hug and squeeze when he was leaving as she was very scared of Alan. John says he has never had such a big hug and squeeze as that!! Lots of memories.
